Sports, health, and wellness have been imbedded in this young woman’s life since she was little. Deja, originally from Orange County CA, came to San Jose for school in order to pursue her passion in Athletic Training. As a child, she was involved in a number of sports and activities such as soccer, ballet and tap dancing, volleyball, and track and field. Her family, especially her dad, was a strong advocate for staying active, taking care of her health, and striving for success in what endeavors head her way.
Deja is currently studying Athletic Training at San Jose State University. In a relatively short amount of time she has witnessed and researched multiple instances where athletes are receiving less than optimal care while training for and participating in sport. In doing so she has developed a passion for wanting to one day impact athletes' lives physically, mentally, and nutritionally.
While focusing on her studies, Deja also spends time working with patients at a local physical therapy clinic to understand how exercise can prevent or minimize different pathologies and/or conditions relative to both athlete and non-athlete populations. She is a strong believer of the mind-body connection when it comes to exercising, and she strives toward bringing more psychological awareness to the athletic environment and exercise enthusiasts at large in order to minimize risks of injury and setbacks.
When not at school, work, or in the gym, Deja enjoys discovering new music, drawing, kicking back with a couple close friends, attending concerts, travelling, and just being outside in the beautiful California weather.
